In recognition of his extensive peacebuilding efforts, Jimmy was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his “decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development.”
In 2007, Jimmy co-founded The Elders, a group of global leaders working together for peace and human rights. He also played a key role in mediating conflicts and promoting health initiatives worldwide, including efforts to eradicate diseases like Guinea worm.
